The Thornton Chamber Virtuosi present "That Which is Fundamental," an exploration of forgotten, canonical and newer works of the western classical idiom. These works establish exciting connections between baroque counterpoint and modernism as well as folk melodies and rhythms of the Americas with a virtuosic flair. The program features Florence Price's Piano Quintet in A minor, William Grant Still's "Ennanga" for harp, string quartet and piano, and Olli Mustonen's "Nonetto II" for 9 solo strings. The USC Thornton Chamber Virtuosi are led by Seth Parker Woods, the Robert Mann Chair in Strings and Chamber Music at USC Thornton. â Admission is free and open to the public with RSVP. View all of Thornton's Signature Series events. All Thornton Signature Series Events have a standby line for fully booked events. Please arrive early to claim your ticket and allow enough time for parking, locating the venue, and checking in. If you have not arrived five minutes before the start time, you forfeit your spot to the waitlist/standby line.
