Performance:Carillon Student Showcase Recital
Monday, October 5, 12:00 PM EDTGraduate students Adam Lenhart, Takeshi Nagayasu, John DiFatta, Sara LeBlanc, Austin Zhu, and Meghan Wysocki perform a student showcase recital on the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Carillon, an instrument of 60 bells with the lowest bell (bourdon) weighing 6 tons. During the concert, visitors may take the elevator to level 2 to view the largest bells. Level 3 will be closed during today's performance. Free and open to the public; presented as part of the 2026 U-M Organ Symposium.

Organ faculty and students will offer 20-minute programs that elaborate upon the theme or concept of the preceding concert. On October 8, Professors Caroline Robinson and Nicole Keller will continue the Chamber Choir’s celebration of University of Michigan composers with a program featuring works of William Albright and William Bolcom, who wrote for the instrument in Hill Auditorium.

While directed by faculty members Aaron Berofsky, baroque violin, and Joseph Gascho, harpsichord/organ, many performances are led by the students themselves. Using period instruments and replicas from the university’s growing Stearns Collection, the musicians gain vital hands-on experience and learn about the history and context of early music and performance practice.

ABOUT THE GUEST ARTIST Working across performance and film, NORA SHARP hosts audiences in worlds where language and embodiment merge in unexpected and illuminating ways. A past Queer|Art Fellow, Chicago Dancemakers Forum Lab Artist Awardee, and Oberlin Screenwriters Intensive Fellow, Nora has had work presented or published by The Momentary, On the Boards, Links Hall Co-MISSIONS, Movement Research at the Judson Church, Steppenwolf LookOut, New Dance Alliance, Midwest RAD Fest, Dixon Place, Open TV, the Fly Honey Show, Pivot Arts Festival, Shawl-Anderson Dance Center, Cannonball Festival, Notes on Masculinity, Salonathon, WUSSY Mag, Performance Response Journal, upcoming in the anthology *Dancing on the Third Coast* (University of Illinois Press, 2026) and on many other stages, pages, and screenings both DIY and institutional across the country.
