Recent double bass DMA grad Mattia Beccari performs Richard Strauss' "Frühling" from Four Last Songs with 2018 MM Piano Performance Alumnus Oleg Bellini. From Mattia: " 'Frühling' by Richard Strauss was composed in 1948 as part of his Vier Letzte Lieder song cycle. The lyrics, a poem by Herman Hesse, were set to music by the German composer. This song title translates as 'Spring' and its lyrics deal with the human desire to embrace nature's blooming during the season of regrowth. For my dissertation, I worked on a transcription for the double bass of the original vocal melody."
