The Hodgson Wind Ensemble performed as part of the 2017 JanFest high school band festival in Hodgson Concert Hall at the UGA Performing Arts Center on January 20, 2017. The ensemble dedicated the opening work of the concert, "March Bodrii" by Valery Khalilov, to the conductor, who visited the University of Georgia in November 2016 and worked and performed with the ensemble. Khalilov passed away tragically in December 2016, so the ensemble performed his composition with an empty podium to represent the empty space he left in the world of music.
