Welcome Saifa Tazrin, WGS graduate teaching assistant and Ph.D. candidate in sociology. Tazrin will be giving a talk titled "The Politics of Calling Her a 'Slut': The Gendered Policing of Politically Active Women." Tazrin is a doctoral candidate at the University of Georgia, pursuing her dissertation research on the important inquiry of how women's bodies become battlegrounds in the gendered political contexts in post-autocratic postcolonial contexts. She also looks into how AI-driven political narratives on social media give rise to online and offline mob-violence in the South Asian political context. Her research interest lies in gender-based violence, political sociology, and feminist research methods.
