    School of Music graduate fellowship ensembles offer a focused, collaborative chamber music experience. Fellowship ensembles combine individual musical virtuosity with the shared spirit of ensemble playing, building flexibility, teamwork, leadership, communication, and entrepreneurial skills for students. Additionally, students engage in a wide variety of professional development and community engagement initiatives, including outreach tours throughout the Mid-Atlantic, recording projects, and commissioning projects.

    The Calidore String Quartet is recognized as one of the world’s foremost interpreters of a vast chamber music repertory, from the quartet cycles of Beethoven and Mendelssohn to works by celebrated contemporary composers such as György Kurtág, Jörg Widmann and Caroline Shaw. For more than a decade, the quartet has performed and held residencies at major venues and festivals around the world, released multiple critically acclaimed recordings and won numerous awards.
