CROSSINGS
CCM Wind Symphony
Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble (CYWE)
Kevin Michael Holzman, music director and conductor
A program highlighting works celebrating how song is woven into the fabric of original compositions. These pieces reveal how familiar melodies can cross from their original form into complex modern compositions — from Percy Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy, which transforms English folk songs into vivid, character-filled miniatures, and David Maslanka’s Symphony No. 2, which incorporates tradition African American melody “Deep River” into a deeply spiritual symphonic journey, to Warren Benson’s The Passing Bell which reimagines hymns through fresh harmonic and rhythmic language.
GRAINGER:?Lincolnshire Posy
BENSON: The Passing Bell
MASLANKA: Symphony No. 2
Estimated run time: 2 hours
Location: Corbett Auditorium
Tickets: $19.50 adult, $15 student, $15 UC faculty/staff, $10 UC student, $5 CCM student; group discounts available. Buy tickets online.
