The NEC Jazz Orchestra, led by Ken Schaphorst, will explore the many ways in which the blues are expressed in music for voice and big band. Early, more traditional examples of blues will be featured, including Memphis Slim’s Every Day (I Have the Blues) and Duke Ellington’s Diminuendo and Crescendo in Blue, alongside more contemporary blues offshoots, such as Julius Hemphill’s Hard Blues.
The live stream of this event is available to NEC Community members only. To watch the stream, please click the “Streaming Access” button at the top of the page and enter the NEC Community streaming password on the video window labeled “NEC-Produced Stream” when prompted.
