Watch the livestream Gamelan Workshop Ken Luk, instructor Come experience the music from Bali, Indonesia! The Gamelan Workshop is a five-day program for students to gain hands-on training by playing our gamelan angklung â Gamelan Lila Muni (Heavenly Sound). As in Bali, students will learn through the oral/aural tradition without notation. The workshop aims to equip participants with the basic techniques of performing Balinese music, as well as to cultivate the aesthetics of a non-Western music culture. The workshop is for students currently in grades 6 and up, including adults; this is a non-residential in-person program. Mandolin Workshops Ken Luk, instructor Mandolin Workshop â Beginner This workshop is open to anyone regardless of experience. Participants will learn the fundamentals of playing the instrument (posture, right hand picking technique, and left hand position), reading music in standard notation, playing tunes with basic chords, and developing musicianship through simple improvisation. Mandolin Workshop â Intermediate Designed for mandolin players who are comfortable in reading and playing in first position, this workshop will focus on developing intermediate level skills â playing in second and third position, tremolo, glide strokes, as well as musicianship through playing as a small ensemble. 3D Tour of Kilbourn Hall
