Join the Mizzou Wind Ensemble as they perform a stirring program of iconic patriotic works to commemorate America 250 on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 7 p.m. in the Missouri Theatre.Celebrate the rich musical traditions and enduring spirit of the United States through works that have shaped the American band repertoire. From the patriotism of The Star-Spangled Banner, Morton Gould's American Salute, and John Philip Sousa's The Thunderer to Charles Ives's imaginative Variations on "America" and the beloved America the Beautiful, the program reflects both the history and evolving identity of our nation. The evening culminates in the world premiere transcription performance of The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere, a powerful new work inspired by one of the most iconic events leading to the American Revolution, by acclaimed composer and pianist of the Grammy-Award winning new music ensemble Alarm Will Sound, John Orfe. The Wind Ensemble gives two performances each semester and is conducted by Dr. Brian A. Silvey ( Mizzou faculty, staff and students free with IDK-12 students free ( tickets: $6 (
